No Fall Infosession
- using same slide show as last year.
- posters -- we still have the corn / bridge poster.
- engineering "beer" poster did not meet approval last year, we aren't pursuing it.
- what do we want new people for?
- this is crunch time, we probably don't need any new recruits now.
- next infosession in winter
- possible to do an open brainstorming session after jamboree
Recruitment
- have instructors who notice promising students talk to them about iGEM
Orientation Week
- want to get an event in, but it's getting close --
- was not able to get into the science displays
- we're still not a club so club days are off limits
UWiGEM should not be a Club
- will of the room: too much overhead but for no reason
- case study: Midnight Sun -- we're fine
Team Updates
Lab Update
- George appointed to write docs for lab and quantification experiment (quantification is with Jordan)
Chromobrick Update -- George
- chromobrick project cannot be finished in time
- should be dropped from this year
- donor strain: last assembly did not work
- landing pad: never got good phenotypes
Quantification Project -- George
- aribinose sensing part does not give consistent signal
- assemble with different parts and finish for this year
2010 Project -- George
- we will be able to assemble this thing
- we can then determine how well it works
- within one or two ligation steps
- should be doable in a month
Software Update
Biocompiler -- Matthew
- take proposal, clean up and provide next draft of roadmap and proposal

- describe explicitly what the software must do but don't explain any implementation details
Bricklayer -- Andre
- can we have this ready by October?
- there are effectively four components
- generic imaging
- inkscape plug-ins
- web frontend (embed into forum posts etc.,)
- querying the registry and other sources such as Eugene description-like things
- triage: in the above order
- data model is solid but needs to be written down
Biomortar
- Do not discuss until after the Jamboree.
Modelling Update
- Jordan has been appointed to write docs for modelling
Stathoscope Continued -- Jordan
- currently building our strains
- then we will be waiting for data
- Nick, George, Andre, Jordan has gone through and decided how to analyze data
- after we get data, plug into matlab
Outreach Update -- Human Practices Project
- ESQ stuff (summer camp)
- Write up human practices project so that we can have this in our cultural memory in future
Competition Wiki Update
Design -- Dan
- working on both oGem and competition wiki
Jamboree Coordinator Role
- Hillary appointed
- sets and enforces deadlines for jamboree, events, posters etc.,
- ensures competition wiki content gets produced
Social Event -- Leah
- should be at the end of September
- Andre: rooftop or BBQ @ Danielle's?
- Leah: could just go to a dinner or something

- please see Leah's Google Doc for an outline of what needs to be done
- content is paramount

- Andre will be replacing the wiki software for oGEM, ehGem and UWiGEM with non-wiki software

- need to understand what Danielle N has accrued in experience
- no one is currently dedicated to fundraising
- there's too much to know -- insufficient documentation
- major sources has always been science faculty and the dean of science

- Leah is in charge of this process.
Andre's Website Game Plan
- next week we will have a new server
- all software will be transferred from old server to new server
- let's get all of the websites straight
- using Andre's template system
- putting together the templating system over the weekend
- igem.uwaterloo.ca gets ported to the new system
- igem.ca/ogem will use the new system
- igem.ca will be next after that
John's Fundraising Idea
- components of the fundraising machine

- Cveta: is there a protocol?
- the problem is that we have the recipe, we need someone to do each item in the recipe
- we need to know the history of contacting to avoid duplicate contacting
