Notes 20100927 BioCompiler
From SnOwy - Ed's Wiki Notebook
Draft notes for biocompiler -- eventually will be exported to igem.uwaterloo.ca

Some possible devices
- Logic type synthesis
- Metabolic engineering
- Adding a control to an existing system
We must expose lower-than-BioBrick level abstraction to the user
- The issue is that BioBricks are imprecise and have fuzzy boundaries
Existing software
- Metabolic engineering software kind of exists
- Understand how far these have gone
Ask Dr. Meiering re: State of the art in Biochemistry predicting
- For reaction coefficients
- What about databases?
Definitions
- Replicable vs. Irreplicable (e.g. Lactose -- only one copy of the gene needed)
- Assertions (recognize when a pathway is doomed to failure)
Re Dr. Brown
- E-mail, send proposal, discuss in meeting
Results
- Given the MS project, we know that the abstraction is missing -- we need to fill that in really.
- There can't be a language without a way to compile it
- Macro system? Do we need to make a COBOL?
Conclusion
- We need to understand the inference that went on in order to understand how to write the first round of language implementation
- We will look at past projects "programs" and understand their logic
- We will eventually work backward to understand how to produce the inverse function -- from macro language to intelligence
- Andre will take West Cost US
- Brandon will take East Cost US
- Eddie will take East Asia, South Asia, Australia
- Jon will take Mainland Europe
- Matthew will take the remainder of the world
